Review: Tear Stains Removal Products

Review of the Tear stain removing product from Castle Bath.
After watching the video from Castle Bath and reading reviews, we were so excited to try this product. We thought: This one looks like it might actually work!
From that video, it looked like the shampoo was the product that did most of the cleaning. So we decided to try that one first before investing in all three products.
NOTE: For the two eye cleaners, we used it 2 sometimes 3 times a day. We also wiped her tears with a warm damp face towel once a day.

DO NOT USE ANY BLEACH PRODUCTS AROUND YOUR DOGS EYES!
    Just follow this simple instructions:
Feed all natural Dog Feed/Treat! without coloring, wheat, corn, etc
Use only none-plastic bowls (like stainless steal,Glass, etc)
    Thats it!
It takes a few month for the stains to grow out, but once they grow out it all stays white 🙂 – Genetics, Do not get your dogs from Puppy Mill Breeders or Online orders, this dogs are way overpriced and breed under terrible conditions!
Instead go to a Shelter Safe a life 🙂 or to a good AKC Breeder –

Hi there,I got a white maltipoo that is 2 years old now.for his 1st year he got a really really bad tear stain but after the trick I did to him,he is now stain free.you just need to cut the hair that has stain, maintaining it everyday free from stain, when the dog wakes up in the morning, wipe his eyes( where the stain are) with a cleaning wipes if you are in a hurry but if you have time get a dump cloth with a little bit of whitening shampoo then scrub it where the parts that stain comes out and rinse it with warm water.i usually shower my dog 2 times a week and use him especially with whitening shampoo and do the same lather some shampoo into where the stain stay, take time to massage it onto his tear duct.time will pass by then the stain will disappear by itself.its a lot of work but it is worth it.it takes time too.i recommend it to my friends and family and it really works.if you have any question just inbox me.just try it.hope this will work to your dog.

Angel Eyes does work.  I have a white toy poodle and at age 10 she began having bad tearing and staining.  I used the regular with the antibiotic AT THE ADVICE OF MY VET.  The tiny antibiotic is what is needed to rectify the problem.  Once the stained hair grew out my dog was once again back to white hair around her eyes.

Have you tried hydrogen poroxide and some flat cotton pads (or small washcloth )? Just be careful not to get it into the eyes.

Have you found anything that worked for you?

  6. @loumanlapas5930 on October 30, 2024 at 2:59 pm

poor baby 🙁 I have a 2 maltese too, the first one gets tear stain, although its not that bad it bothers me.  She eat all natural choice and I use the whitening shampoo all the time.  I comb any debris with flea comb daily. Just trim the stainned hair then start with combing it daily .  I hope it helps .

The tears provide a perfect medium for red yeast growth as does the saliva, but only in certain dogs who seem to be more vulnerable for this infection. The product I mentioned earlier, "Angel Eyes" is my choice for defeating this problem.  It has a small amount of antibiotic which kills the yeast.  I only use this now when there is a problem.  The last time was two years ago and he is six.  Good luck

Sorry you have had no luck with the tear stain removal.  I have Maltese and tried several products until I came across the solution called Glow Groom.  It’s a little pricey, but well worth the money.  I put a teaspoon mixed through her food once a day for about two weeks as soon as that stain starts to appear.  Check out http://www.GlowGroom.com.  I hope if you try this out, you’ll be very happy with the results.  I know we always are!  All the best and let us know how it goes if you do go ahead and try this product.

These topical products are not likely to work. This is a nutritional issue, not so much a grooming issue. I have a Maltipoo, When I adopted her at age 10 she had terrible tear staining issues around her eyes, and the rust color carried over to the area around her mouth and on spots on her paws where she was constantly licking. She gets filtered water to drink. I took her off ALL GRAINS in her diet (and the itchy ears/ear infections and itchy paws that made her lick them all the time went away) and then learned another trick that finally totally knocked out the red staining. BEEF LIVER. She has a bad reaction when she eats regular beef food products so I thought she was allergic. It actually made the staining WORSE. But her favorite treat is Dr. Becker’s Bites – made from beef LIVER. I wondered why she could eat THOSE on a daily basis with no problem, but not beef based foods. The very smart folks at my local pet store told me that there is something different in the enzymes of the liver and other organ meats that actually counter-acts the tear staining issue. She was already on a mostly raw-food diet, so I incorporated a special blend that Bravo puts out with is JUST BEEF ORGAN meat. I also continue to give her the Dr. Becker’s Bites (beef liver only) on a daily basis. While she still has tear duct ooze to some extent that gets caught in the hair around her eyes, NONE of that red staining is evident anywhere on the dog anymore. I just regularly trim the hair around and under her eyes, never allowing it to get as long as the dog’s here in the video and clean her eye area daily with Earth Bath eye wipes or another natural one from Ark Naturals. Red tear staining is a thing of the past. She also gets a daily vitamin supplement from Art Naturals that provides "greens" as well as vitamins and minerals. All that helped erode the problem but it was the addition of beef ORGAN meat that finally totally knocked it out. I believe the red staining is actual an indication of poor health on some level, it’s more serious than just cosmetics. That dog is 13 now and tears around the beach like a puppy.

I recently added a white mini labradoodle. He was 4 months by the time we picked him up, and he had fur overgrown on his face, irritating his eyes and making them run into his face, creating stains like the ones on your dog. I did a lot of research before I chose, and went straight to Eye Envy NR (non refrigerated). This is something i never worried about with our current dog that is black. I took puppy to the groomer first to get his face cleaned up/trimmed without resorting to shaving completely. My routine: comb his face where the stains are with a flea comb to get any gunk out. Moistened the pads with the liquid solution (doesn’t seem to bother him at all), nice and moist but not wet. With my finger that is moist from the solution, I dab my finger in the Eye Envy powder and rub it gently into the stained area, sometimes do 2-3 dabs. I did this 2x per day for at least 7-10 days. When I started seeing improvements, I reduced to once a day. I am very happy with the results, which have improved about 80% and continuing to improve. It works for us and I hope you have the same results. I am now on week 3 and very happy with the progress.

  15. @haileymacleod3520 on October 30, 2024 at 3:12 pm

You should have cleaned the eyes every week then his eyes would have never went like this in the first place

  16. @KimClinger on October 30, 2024 at 3:12 pm

Angel eyes works for my poodle. It takes a few meals before you notice anything. But I’m a true believer in Angel Eyes. You can also get it cheaper than that. Just need to search for it.

  17. @camilleortiz4954 on October 30, 2024 at 3:13 pm

good thing i don’t have this problem with my shih tzu because her tear stains are noticeable just a daily cleaning and bi weekly cuts are good enough

  18. @suzanneaylward2525 on October 30, 2024 at 3:13 pm

Hi, I have tried all these things you have tried except this castle product, nothing worked for me either. The only thing I have found that worked is a teeth bleaching pen that I actually bought at a dollar store. I mixed it a little with baby shampoo and very carefully (you have to be extreme careful NOT to get it in the eye) placed it on the stained fur and held the dog for a half hour before I washed it off. I held her because I wanted to make sure it did not get in her eyes. I then washed it out very carefully with contact lens solution until all the product was off.  You can really see a big difference but you need to do it for several days for it to go away completely. I only give my dog purified water and I’m using Acana for her food and there is no stains anymore. I first tried this about 2 years ago on my other dog and it worked so well that I am again doing it with my new puppy. My vet said she could do a small surgery on my dogs to kind of fold the eyelid down (she said it would cause no pain and never be noticeable) so that the tears don’t leak as much but I decided against it after I tried this method. Again, if you try this you need to be extremely cautious because I don’t know how this would affect the eye if you were to get it inside. Good luck!

I cut my Maltese tear stains out and use Angel Eyes if she starts getting stains.  It is not instant results  but used as directed I found marvelous results. I stopped using them for about a year and then I started up again when I saw stains coming back.  It worked again but again it is not instant it takes weeks and then I continue with treatment as directed for about 3 months. Then I stop using it until needed again.

  20. @rainytedandeffi7216 on October 30, 2024 at 3:14 pm

Dr Karen Becker recommends colloidal silver. 100% safe to use near the eyes etc! I just ordered some to try so will post if I get good results

  21. @mrspymaster1231 on October 30, 2024 at 3:15 pm

    mix all tear removal

  22. @davisrann on October 30, 2024 at 3:15 pm

Angel Eyes worked great for my Bichons. My vet recommended it and said the antibiotics were safe to use over the life of the dog.  It doesn’t really start to show until the stained fur grows out or is cut away.

  23. @theramblingzone on October 30, 2024 at 3:16 pm

I have always used good old peroxide. Words for me.

  24. @michellehall7936 on October 30, 2024 at 3:16 pm

I’ve tried most of those products and more… None of them work. I’ve just starting to have the groomers to cut it out every time he gets groomed. So for at least for a week he looks great as fas as the tear stains. But I did see less tear stains using the Angle Eyes after about 2 months of use. His eyes didn’t tear up as much. But because of the price I stop using in. I’ve just learned to love Polo’s stains.

  25. @John-kg5jy on October 30, 2024 at 3:17 pm

Hi!  Have you considered seeing a holistic vet who can try to figure out what she is allergic to causing her eyes to tear frequently?  I saw one recently who helped me balance the homecooked food I feed my dogs and there’s no tummy upset, scratching, or eye discharge, and they sleep well at night, too.

I use tear stain remover pads by 21st century it will lighten the color the first try but if u do it daily it will come off. Your dog is so calm mine goes crazy when it sees me take the bottle out. My dogs eyes looked like yours so hopefully this product will work. Good luck

Thank you for sharing.  I keep my little dog’s hair cut very short in that area, plus she drinks reverse osmosis water, so it is not a problem.   Therefore, scissors and pure water seem to work.

  31. @marpeza100 on October 30, 2024 at 3:25 pm

The best way to remove the stains is giving your dog "reverse osmosis water" !!!!!

  32. @lucadenuca3582 on October 30, 2024 at 3:25 pm

You’re dog is so calm mine is crazy adn hyperactive he wont calm him self like your dog i dont know what to do whit him i cant clean his tear stains at all, what do you recomend to calm him?

  33. @mysticalelf716 on October 30, 2024 at 3:27 pm

I removed white potatoes from my dog’s diet and that seems to be doing the trick. It’s the yeast that causes the discoloration and potato sugars feed yeast.

  34. @summerdowlig on October 30, 2024 at 3:28 pm

I have the same problem with my lhasa apso I trim around their eyes.

    How old is your dog

  36. @dogandcatmum on October 30, 2024 at 3:31 pm

hi I adopted a shih Tzu with bad eyes, first I had  the eyes hair cut, then I used baby wipes everyday to keep her eyes clean, but if they get bad I use lemon juice on some cotton wool, I also put some lemon or white vinger in her bath water this also helps with the stains on her coat.

  37. @PKStefanini on October 30, 2024 at 3:33 pm

Easy does it.  Your tear stain removing effort   is typical of attempts on most videos I have watched to clean tear stains and most of them don’t seem to help.  By doing a very simple procedure  frequently, almost every day or two will help immensely.  I soften Rexie’s with a damp warm facecloth (I use baby facecloths for Rexie) and then I use several different nontoxic dog eye wash products lightly massaging the hair with the staining.  The  softened clumps generally come right off with either my finger tips or tissue or on the facecloth.  There are nontoxic safe to get in the eyes eye washes for dogs but to be sure no irritation takes place I use clear water on a tissue or facecloth to rinse off the solution.

  38. @Mrspjb-bw1ks on October 30, 2024 at 3:34 pm

I’d be willing to bet that they shaved the dog’s hair and scrubbed what was left before they even applied tear stain remover.  Also, maybe the liquid has to soak in.  If you dye your hair, you have to sit and wait for the color to take effect.  In this case, you are removing color. So maybe you have to wait a little longer?

  39. @Kanga41 on October 30, 2024 at 3:34 pm

Angel Eyes with the antibiotic, it completely cured the problem.  I was able to stop using it for several months a year.  I now use it whenever  I observe a reoccurrence. He is 6 years old now and no further problems for years.

  40. @94gdl on October 30, 2024 at 3:35 pm

Thanks for sharing your quest to clean Yumi’s tear stained fur.  Like you we have tried many products and many "old wives tales" type of correctors.  Nothing has worked; groomer suggested we cut her eye hair short to keep the tear stains small and clean her eyes with a washcloth with plain warm water.  That’s what we do.  None of these pricey products have worked for our dog.  Again, thanks for sharing.

  41. @angelpaez2201 on October 30, 2024 at 3:35 pm

Hi my groomer does a really great job no tear stains at all. She said her trick is that she uses clear eyes for humans while bathing she squeezes a few drops on the stains then let’s sit while washing body. After finish she uses a brush then washes off. Works every time! I have a maltese

  42. @scooteringscootering on October 30, 2024 at 3:36 pm

I used the angel eyes .. Not the natural and it works very well. On my Maltese Chanel !!

  43. @rcampbell31 on October 30, 2024 at 3:38 pm

My Vet recommend using Clear Eyes for humans. My dog is a beagle mix and his face is white from old age. After a three week stay on Long Island, NY when the pollen was abundant, my Stevie’s fur was marked with pinkish stains from over active tears. I used the Clear Eyes and gently rubbed in with a toothbrush and on one eye the stain is completely out. Your dog is adorable and I hope you have found a solution by now, but if you have not, you may want to give this a try 🙂

  44. @artgandy7979 on October 30, 2024 at 3:39 pm

We have used the following and had very good luck with it…
Mix into a paste: corn starch, 20 volume peroxide, and milk of magnesia. Apply and let it sit overnight. If tear stains are really bad, it may take up to 3 or 4 days to fully work!

  45. @benjaminsimkin6842 on October 30, 2024 at 3:40 pm

Did you find one that did work? I would be interested to know. 🙂

  46. @seventhuniverse8168 on October 30, 2024 at 3:40 pm

90% of pet products on the shelves are scam. and no one is doing anything about it

  47. @dbrazil09 on October 30, 2024 at 3:42 pm

I also have this issue with only one of my Chinese Crested powder puffs? I read this is an allergy and also can be aggravated by sunlight making the eyes tear more. I did use the angel eyes it did work but upset his tummy (loose stool).
I feel Blue Buffalo Wilderness Sweet Potato and Salmon, the boys love it but when this bag is gone I am going to try another flavor and see if it helps. They also only get bottled water, I’m not sure what other than the antibiotic I don’t know if it is an on going thing or one round would do it I am going to discuss it with my vet next visit.

  48. @ginaandsampson on October 30, 2024 at 3:48 pm

I use Angel Eyes and it works for me. However, I heard the Natural version of Angel Eyes does not work.

  49. @cathypryor4726 on October 30, 2024 at 3:48 pm

i have a westie mix that I groom.  I would start by cutting away the stained hair and then washing the stained areas at least once a day with white pearl shampoo on a damp face cloth, then rinsing with water.  hope you have success.  pretty dog.
