Fresh step, outstretched I’ve found to smell the best. Unfortunately my husband insists the arm and hammer one he buys is the best one. But I smell it all day even when its been scooped. So I’m trying to find a solution that would make us both happy.

Yup I need to stay vigilant with daily cleaning, I bought gloves so that I can get at it with gusto. Right now she has diarrhea so clumping litter is essential. I use Dr. Elsey Ultra. Also I use a trash can with a cover. Her covered litter box is in the bathroom. I also keep a notebook which is a journal of what my cat eats daily, when she vomits hairballs or throws up food, and her response to different cat foods.

  5. @karenstuber2315 on October 30, 2024 at 3:01 pm

I am allergic to cats although, I am willing to take allergy meds for her. I believe what is bothering me a this arm and hammer. It is bothering me immensely. As long as I am not around it I am feeling fine no matter what how many times I clean it . Can you help me?

  6. @roxannesmaldone3465 on October 30, 2024 at 3:01 pm

My Cat prefers a low entry litter box, because he’s a SENIOR Cat. I Dont use Clay litter, HE uses Ococat . I WILL NOT AN AUTOMATIC LITTER BOX.

  7. @daanielhan on October 30, 2024 at 3:04 pm

I absolutely hate the litter smell. It’s so bad and it just spreads around the whole entire house!

  8. @Its_for_women_spa-salon on October 30, 2024 at 3:05 pm

Hey I just change to this swheat scoop 100% cat litter and I thought it was going to be promising but the entire bathroom smell everytime my cat uses the bathroom. I scoop his poop multiple times a day but the smell its so plangent!

Also I change his dry food to Iams proactive health indoor height & hairball care

  9. @Divinenubian on October 30, 2024 at 3:07 pm

Great video, but I noticed when I changed my cat’s diet it cut out that smell and on occasion I had to use regular Arm & Hammer baking soda but I scoop his box once in the morning and once at night never had a odor problem unless I give them turkey cat food LOL and the other added thing is I keep a scented candle burning in my vanity bathroom I get the scented candle from the dollar store

I’ve been trying to figure out why the litter smells so bad we use the disposal litter boxes and I put a new clean disposal litter box with new litter arm n hammer multiple cats litter and I can smell urine all the way out the bathroom where we have the litter box. Mind you we live in a apartment so we don’t have any other place to put the litter box so the smell
Lingers out into the living room. Even with a clean litter box… I’m thinking maybe it’s the cat litter mat? And how often do we clean the cat litter mats?

  12. @kaitoshusband28 on October 30, 2024 at 3:10 pm

Thank you for the tips!! I hate having to keep my cats litter box in my room, but these tips made the smell less strong.

  13. @lalani888ARTblue on October 30, 2024 at 3:10 pm

Here’s something I’ve learned having had many felines. Put a healthy layer of organic baking soda along the bottom of the box. Then add a thick layer of clumping litter. Then add a very thick layer of clay litter. Clean it out every 2 day’s. Way less smell. The price of pine or shavings in pet stores is absolutely unaffordable for most people. Aa well I feel to share that I’ve purchased many brands of healthier wet catfood..but my girl’s won’t eat it. And for a few month’s now they are also having a difficult time with the cheaper brand’s. Clearly there is something in kitty food that is not safe. I’m considering making my own. Love to all 💚💌😽

Could you tell me what kind of trash can you used in the video?

  15. @Vikface1978 on October 30, 2024 at 3:12 pm

2:02 Ummm is your litter really that low? It should be at least 3” or 6 or 7 cm deep. Then it’s unlikely clumps will stick to the walls or floor. If they still are then a) maybe the litter box is too small for your cat or b) not clean enough.

  16. @madelinevegas8123 on October 30, 2024 at 3:12 pm

Love my cat he is a Ragdoll

  17. @joymychoice on October 30, 2024 at 3:14 pm

We rotate litter boxes to give each litter box time in the sun each day. We remove solids then place in full sun. This neutralises odour very effectively.

  18. @Dells16 on October 30, 2024 at 3:14 pm

I’m confused. Why does she have so little litter in the boxes? Is that just for demonstration?

  19. @CatFromFL on October 30, 2024 at 3:15 pm

that Litter-Lifter is awesome. i really didn’t realize type of scooper matter until i got one. i’m able to easily pick up little break off pieces without them falling back in.

  23. @leprecoon2945 on October 30, 2024 at 3:25 pm

Fancy feast and friskies and every Purina brand is garbage. Do your research. Those brands have meat by products and fillers.

  24. @meldog7925 on October 30, 2024 at 3:26 pm

Can you recommend a brand of wet cat food and dry cat food. My cat’s poop stinks so bad and I cleaned the litter box everyday and use a high quality litter. I’m thinking it’s their diet. I feed them. Rachel Ray cat food. I know it’s not the highest quality but I can’t afford top quality but I would like a better quality that I can try. I stopped giving them wet food because it seemed to make it worse, but I’m willing to try a better quality food if you have any suggestions. Thank you

There is never any reason for a cat box to smell. Ever!! I have had up to 4 cats at a time for most of my life and people who visited never knew I had cats until they showed up. IT’S CALLED CLEAN THE BOX OUT DAILY, HAVE MORE THAN ONE BOX IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF CATS. JUST CLEAN IT OUT!!@@!@ It is horrible for the cat when ammonia builds up and they have to breath it, especially in the heat. GET OFF THE COUCH AND CLEAN THE CAT BOX. NO MAGIC HERE.

  29. @stickplayer2 on October 30, 2024 at 3:37 pm

Sadly, none of these would work with my 2 year old shorthair female. She pees standing up, the pee sprays right over the side. I’ve tried boxes with higher sides than any shown here, and it results in a huge mess every time. The only solution was a very tall (sides actually taller than she is), top-entry box. She’s happy to climb in, do her business, and jump out. Yes – the sides need cleaning regularly, but the pee stays in the box.

  30. @xsw882 on October 30, 2024 at 3:39 pm

8:11 this is what i do for my own diet. Exactly what you said is what I’ve experienced. Cutting out plants and getting zero fiber has completely changed my digestion for the better. I don’t fart, my poops are smooth as fuck, and I poop much less because my body absorbs food much better when its plant-free. PS – I’m a human

  31. @mfcabrini on October 30, 2024 at 3:40 pm

Although you have a lot of good advice, people need to do more research on cat nutrition. Friskies nd Fancy Feast are not good foods. The top 5-6 ingredients need to be meat and no by products. Also recent research at Cornell and US San Francisco have linked legumes (peas, chickpeas, lentils) to heart disease in cats.

can you review the pet snowy+ ? its an automatic litter box

  34. @robinplante9560 on October 30, 2024 at 3:43 pm

I think it must have been fate that brought me to this page. I have 3 cats. One cat is 14 years old and the other two are a year old. I love them, but battling litter odor is getting to be a big problem. Because the 14 year old has health problems, he stays inside now. Leaving 3 cats to use the litter box. I have always had a very fresh, clean smelling home. Well, not anymore. I add baking soda to the litter but I still smell the strong ammonia smell from the litter box, even though it is thoroughly cleaned. This is bothering me and my son. I need help. Please send me your suggestions. I’m going to look at the link provided and see if I can find better products. Thank you.

  35. @llkg9 on October 30, 2024 at 3:43 pm

No matter how clean, I won’t touch the box, scooper, etc, without gloves. And I use a mask if scooping or changing it.

  36. @_Credence_ on October 30, 2024 at 3:45 pm

Dont say for good. Even if you remove the urine and poop lumps twice daily, there will still be a lot of smell left in the rest of the litter.
Bet to have a cat that can poop and pee outside.
    Tried bicarbonate. Doesnt help.
Also pure meat based food seems to create a more smelly poop than concentrate which contains plant fibres.

  39. @mummy005 on October 30, 2024 at 3:46 pm

We are litter box training kittens and it is making me a little crazy. I am up to five litter boxes because the female of the litter will lay in the box and not let others use it. I’m hoping as they get older it will get easier. But right now I’m scooping multiple times and day trying to keep the smell away.

  40. @alabamacatherder5789 on October 30, 2024 at 3:47 pm

Just some comments to take or leave:
My vet says to avoid baking soda or products with baking soda because it is irritating to your cat’s eyes.
I’ve also read that cats hate litter box liners so don’t use them.
I don’t use clay litters because clay is a non-renewable product, with all the issues that implies.
I currently use Oko cat litter, a wood product that comes in original (pellets) or soft (sand-like texture). I have 8 cats & they all like it, though some prefer the soft texture. I’ve used a corn cob litter in the past that was really good, but I can’t find it anymore.
In my opinion, asking your cat to use a covered litter box is like asking a person to use a port-a-potty on a blazing hot day with the added bonus of breathing in used litter dust. Yuck.
    🤔

  41. @Phthalogray on October 30, 2024 at 3:47 pm

My cats used to eat clumping litter when they were kittens and it made me so mad and scared for their health but I’m so SO glad they don’t do it anymore 😭

I clean my cats litter box daily twice, I wash the litter boxes every month and I put new litter in every month. Both my cats are fixed and having to smell the litter when I walk into the room is disgusting.
